NM Suites Platja d'Aro - Garden and Pool

Hotel Review: NM Suites in Platja d’Aro

What makes NM Suites special:

The NM Suites are in a quiet residential area of Platja d’Aro, built around a lush garden featuring plenty of tall pine trees, flower beds and a large pool which, during the time we went, almost felt like our own private pool. Since the hotel only has 39 rooms, it never felt crowded. I also loved the bathroom which boasted a rain shower and a massive hydromassage bathtub. I seem to base my hotel ratings on bathtubs… and food. This place checks both of those boxes. For those of you working on the go, you’ll be happy to hear there is free wifi everywhere, including in the garden, and it’s quiet enough to get some work done.

What to eat:

The restaurant, Sa Cova, was a real surprise at this hotel. I had a very Catalan starter with a selection of embutidos (cold meats) and pan con tomate (crispy bread with tomato and olive oil), followed by a not-so-Spanish but absolutely gorgeous seared tuna which was beautifully presented and melt-in-your-mouth tender. We also ordered a beef filet which was equally delicious. Overall, one of the best meals I had on my Costa Brava trip.

Few things in life make me happier than a nice meal. This tuna was delicious.

What to do around the hotel:

NM Suites are in an enjoyably quiet residential area of Platja d’Aro, and the beach is just a two minute stroll away. It’s a long stretch of beach, with a boardwalk and plenty of bars and restaurants. None of the restaurants I tried there came close to the quality of the hotel restaurant Sa Cova, but there are nice places to enjoy an evening drink and watch the sky turning all sorts of colours during sunset, so go for a pre-dinner cocktail on the beach!

The verdict:

Platja d’Aro wasn’t my favourite place on the Costa Brava – just a bit too touristy for my liking – but the hotel was a great little place to relax while still having access to a town with bars and shops. The room was very comfortable and the garden had plenty of places to sit and get some work done on the road, so overall it fit our needs perfectly. If you’re in Platja d’Aro, it’s worth stopping by for dinner, even if you’re not staying at the hotel.
